This is a demonstration, which takes place every year in the desert of Las Bardenas, in Navarra,
to protest against the military use of this protected natural space. There is a military base
and a shooting field for airplanes to test their bombs. But, besides that, there are a lot
of areas in Las Bardenas being used by people (farmers, cyclists, motorbike riders, hikers, etc)
as well as some villages where real people live.
There have been already a few accidents (a huge box
falling down from a plane near one of those villages is the latest one I remember) with no victims
that I remember fortunately. But it is just a matter of time, and one day there will be a big
accident, given that the planes use real bombs and fly very close to the surrounding villages.
That's why different organizations have committed to do everything they can to remove the military
usage of this wonderful place (a desert, with beautiful formations caused by millions of years of
erosion), so this year I joined them in this demonstration.
